Tiramisu meaning “pick me up” or “lift me up” is a popular Italian coffee-flavoured dessert. It is made of ladyfingers dipped in coffee, layered with a mixture of eggs, sugar, and mascarpone cheese and flavoured with sifted cocoa powder.
75 g sugar
250 g mascarpone cheese
200 g ladyfingers
250 ml coffee
Pinch of salt
How to make:
Separate eggs and add yolks and sugar in a bowl and mix until well incorporated.
Add the mascarpone cheese to the egg yolk mixture.
Whisk the egg whites with a pinch of salt until stiff peaks. Add this to the egg yolk mixture as well.
Dip the ladyfingers in the coffee on both sides. Don’t leave them in too long.
Into a deep baking dish or a plate with a cake ring around it, add a layer of the cream mixture and add the ladyfingers.
Cover with cream mixture and add a layer of sifted cocoa powder. Repeat until you use up all the ingredients.
Let cool in the fridge for a couple of hours to set. Serve and enjoy!
